The TiVo Xfinity On Demand App is Going Away

Comcast customers using a CableCARD received the email shown below.  TiVo has indicated they are working with Comcast to bring a more modern Xfinity application to TiVo customers.

A home theater/TV PC (HTPC) is a great alternative to using equipment from Comcast, and you can save some money by owning your own equipment.  Ubuntu Studio users with Firefox Quantum are reporting here that they are able to stream their Xfinity on-demand content.  A Roku device is an alternative, but Comcast may charge an additional monthly fee in the future after the device is activated to use the Xfinity Stream app.
We are writing to let you know that as of June 25, 2019, the Xfinity On Demand app will no longer be available on TiVo devices. This means that Xfinity On Demand content will also no longer be available. Unfortunately, the platform that connects your TiVo device to Xfinity On Demand runs on out-of-date technology that cannot be upgraded or updated. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Please note that no other part of your TiVo experience with Xfinity is changing. You can still watch and record live TV on your TiVo, and none of your existing recordings will be deleted or modified in any way.
If you want to watch Xfinity On Demand content, please consider any of the following ways:
  • If you have an Xfinity TV Box in your home, you can still access Xfinity On Demand with that device. If you do not have an Xfinity TV Box, you can call us at 1-800-xfinity and we will be happy to assist you.
  • The Xfinity Stream app and xfinity.com/stream give you free in-home access to all the live and On Demand content that's part of your package on your other devices.
  • You can also access the Stream app on certain streaming devices and smart TVs. Check www.xfinity.com/support/articles/xfinity-stream-beta-app-faqs for details on compatible devices.
Thank you for being an Xfinity customer. If you have any questions, please call us at 1-800-xfinity and we will be able to assist you. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you, and we'll continue to work hard to deliver the best experience possible.
Sincerely,
Gene Shatlock
